Why these sizes

A logo is almost never seen at the size it was designed at. Most of the time it renders at 48 pixels or less: the browser tab, the pinned tab, the avatar next to a reply. The mockups above put your file into those slots exactly as browsers and platforms do, including the circle crop that social avatars apply and the dark surfaces where low-contrast marks disappear.

Common questions

Will my logo work as a favicon?

Drop it in the checker above and look at the 16px browser tab mock. If the mark is still recognizable there, it will work as a favicon. If it turns to mush, simplify: one or two bold letters or a single strong shape survive 16 pixels, full wordmarks and fine detail rarely do.

What sizes should I test a logo at?

Five sizes cover the surfaces that matter: 16px for browser tabs, 32px for pinned tabs and high-density tabs, 48px for the small avatar next to comments and replies, 180px for the iOS home screen icon, and 400px for social profile photo slots. Test on both light and dark backgrounds, because a logo that reads on white can vanish on a dark header.

Is my logo uploaded when I use this checker?

No. The file is read locally in your browser through an object URL and rendered straight into the page. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no signup, and closing the tab discards everything.

Why does my logo look blurry at small sizes?

Two different causes. If the source file is smaller than the slot, the browser upscales it and it comes out soft; the checker flags this when it happens. If the source is large but detailed, downscaling to 16 or 32 pixels averages the fine detail away. The first is fixed by exporting a larger master, the second only by simplifying the mark.
